The first portage:
The fun continues:
We were completely startled on our second portage when the forest just to our left erupted. An eagle flew through the trees about 15 feet away from us. We, of course, investigated, and found it had been feasting on one of the last salmon of the season. We checked the spot again on our return (see the photo at the end):
Fun reflections:
The sled tracks are from a trapper who we met later in the day. He gave August a stern warning to stay out of his traps.
