We began Spring Break in Crested Butte, CO at Adrienne's parents home.  Bob and Maureen have a beautiful house at the base of Mount Crested Butte.  Their valley is spectacular.  We enjoyed two days of skiing (one nordic, one alpine) but unfortunately, the camera never made it out of its case.

It did when we went to the Dirty Devil.  Here are shots from that adventure:

We started hiking just outside of Hanksville and within 100 yards of being by the river we came across a carcass of a bloated bovine in the Dirty Devil.  We never used the water from the Dirty Devil for drinking or cooking (we were able to find potholes in the slickrock or water in side canyons).

We decided to hike for a bit since the river was so braided initially.

We finally made the decision to try the butt-boats

It did not last too long.

Eventually, Adrienne could boat reliably however I still had to hike.  We traveled almost exactly the same pace.

Our turnaround point ...we realized if we were going to make it to Poison Spring Canyon in four days (total) it would mean pack rafting solely for the next two days (and we wanted to hike some of the side canyons).  So, we hiked back up to Angel Cove, figured out a way to the rim,  and spent two days there - one of them in Robber's Roost (in the rain).

On a day trip into Robber's Roost.  Adrienne running across the Dirty Devil:

Our incredible camp.  It rained hard but the only reason we had the fly on the tent was for added warmth.

After we hiked out, we drove to the bottom of Poison Springs Canyon to check out what the take-out looked like.
