Jeff Conway and I headed in to Sheep Creek right after school let out.  Any trip with Jeff is a good one but this one especially fine - easy flight in, we nailed the trail to the put-in, the water was fun in a hard shell and dramatic in a packraft (class III for long stretches), and the take-out was easily identifiable.

These photos were all taken on Jeff's camera:

Logistics:

Flew with Alaska Bush Float Plane Service out of Talkeetna (Fish Lake - mile 9.1 on the Spur Road - 907-733-1693).  They have a 206 and a Maul.

Lake to River - plane scout the route - left (walking down) of creek, link up meadows then stay on a minor ridge on a bear trail - Embeck says it can take three hours, we were able to do it in about 45 minutes (but we really lucked out on nailing the meadows and the bear trail).

Take Out - Car: Parks Highway to right onto Hidden Hills (sign for Gigglewood B&B), left in about 1 mile (another sign for Gigglewood), left in about 2.5 miles, past crazy signs, left at a T, park at the end of the cul-de-sac.  Potential for car vandalism is VERY high.

Take Out - River: About an hour or so after you pass under a tram you will see a house on river right (A frame, up high).  In about another 45 minutes to an hour you will see an ATV track on river left - take out here.  Follow it (initially downstream not upstream) back to the car.  It is about 2 miles long.
