Finally, I was able to see the top of Mount Rumble (third time is a charm). C. Scott, Germaine, and I headed off into Ram Valley on a hazy June 18th. Ram Valley was, as usual, spectacular.
Grunting it up to Bombardment (not Bombadier or A Bomb or Da' Bomb or ...) Pass
Hiking through Bombardment Pass.
Scott and Cumulus
Happily in Peter's Creek at our campsite
Even in the haze, Bellicose and The Shroud loomed impressively:
I actually have no photos from the summit push - thinking too much about scree, rock slides, and which way to run if a rock did fall my way. A picture of a wasted Arc after a sleepless night (for him) will have to suffice.
I must say that the trip up to the summit of Rumble from Peter's Creek took about 4 hours. On the way down we were able to link up soft scree and snow gullies to within 100 yards of our bivy site !! The way down took only 1 hour !! I have never had that much of a difference in my ascent and descent times !! One of those snow fields (at about midnight):
