Using the buttons above, you may see photos and some narrative of some of my more recent adventures or see a listing of sites important to me ranging from races to environmental topics. Otherwise, this page has been devised to share with you as much personal information I am will to on the web. Brief Biography I was born and raised in New Jersey. After two years at Montclair High School, I attended and later graduated from The Lawrenceville School, a boarding school in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. The decision to attend Lawrenceville had a huge impact on my life - not only was I to leave the comfort of my family, friends and all that was familiar but I was accepting a challenge to perform at a much higher level in many arenas (personal, athletic, and academic, to name a few). The result of this decision was struggle, terror, and lots and lots of growth. Throughout my summers while I attended the College of William and Mary, I worked at Camp Kabeyun. AT KBN I gained many skills and attitudes that would shape the way I would travel through life. I still think of my friendships from camp as some of my strongest even though I have not seen or heard from many Kabeyunites in years. I realize that statement may sound strange but the bonds of Kabeyun are simply that strong. I graduated from The College of William and Mary in 1993 with little idea of what I wanted to do except have some fun. It was then that I first traveled to Alaska and began teaching ... skiing, that is. It was not until two years later that Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah would give me the opportunity to teach a more academic subject. I happily accepted a job in central Utah and lived and played there until the urge to return to Alaska became too great. Upon my return, I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching along with the privilege of teaching at Service High School in Anchorage. I have been teaching at Service since 1999 and have managed to teach Survey of Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Informal Geometry, Algebra Lab, Algebra II and Geometry Lab. In 2002, I was a part of Service's SHOALS (Service High's Outdoor and Leadership School) program, a team teaching towards personal awareness and connecting our curriculum with water in various regards. In 2004, after 2 years of planning, Power Algebra (a mastery-based Algebra I curriculum) got off the ground as a pilot program at Service under my guidance but not without the help of 9 other dedicated Algebra I teachers. In the Fall of 2004, I began teaching at Bartlett High School. I have enjoyed my time at Bartlett. The school has provided me with many unique challenges - a block schedule and more free time since I have just cut my commute in half ! Of course, I will always make time to play with my friends in the great outdoors as much as possible. Link to Resume, 2004 Use the buttons below to navigate to the area you need to go to next:
