Arc and I headed out to try and check out a new spot to us - Grizzly Bear Lake.  Our route was to approach the lake from the seldom visited North Fork of Ship Creek.  Both the North Fork and Grizzly Bear Lake are hidden treasures and hopefully we will be spending a lot more time in that area in the future !

As the photos of Triangle and Concerto reveal, the day started out overcast in our valley:

The walk to Grizzly Bear Lake up the North Fork of Ship Creek was a bushwack (to say the least).  Here is Arc with "the trail" (note the small opening in the willow that we used):

Although the going was rough, I have never been in a place with so many wildflowers - they were endless and made the bushwack much more tolerable.  Here is a SMALL sample:

The waterfall that flows from Grizzly Bear Lake:

From the top of the waterfall of Grizzly Bear Lake (tough to pick out the horizon line of the waterfall):

At the top of the waterfall there was a strange wad of torn up rubber - any clues why it is here?

The long awaited Grizzly Bear Lake - well worth the hike:

Once we finally reached the lake, a spectacular reflection awaited.

Up from Grizzly Bear Lake (on the way to the Crow Pass Trail), there were two passes encountered.  The first was Moraine Pass:

The moraine in this area was shard-like:

Another way in and out of the area is Camp Creek:

The aptly named "Paradise Pass:"

Looking into the Crow Pass (Raven Creek) valley, you can see the Rook Glacier (left) and another unnamed glacier:

The Raven Glacier:

After the descent from Paradise Pass, the Crow Pass Trail came into view - the first notable landmark was the Raven Gorge Bridge (the light is funny because the time is right about midnight).
