Cirque of Towers, August 4th

We began the day by hiking in to the Cirque.  It was only about 9 or 10 miles but the trailhead was at 9000' and Jackass Pass was much higher.  For a bunch of people just arriving from sea level, it was a pretty tough day.

The night before we hiked in we car camped.

The parkinglot. A bit of a shocker in my Alaskan mind. This parking lot was located about 3 hours from Jackson, down about 50 miles of dirt road.

Big climbing packs

It was so nice to be warm. In the sun. Warm. Sun. Ahhh.

It was really fun to hike in on such a nice trail. A luxury we often forget about living in Alaska.

Our first view of the Cirque

Our camp for 5 days.

Pingora

Wolf's Head and Pingora. These would be two of our climbs (and they dominate most of my photos!).
