On July 17th and 18th, I headed down the Crow Pass Pass trail. I made a hard left at Twin Falls Creek and headed towards the pass at its terminus and the lake on the other side: Blue Eyed Lake. The pictures don't lie - this place is beautiful !! Heritage Falls cranking in the summer heat on the Crow Pass Trail:
After leaving the Crow Pass Trail, I bushwacked for a bit and had some company on an adjoining slope:
As you can see, there was a fairly large drainage between us - otherwise, I would not have stopped to take photos !!
Once past the bears and through the 'schwack, the Twin Falls Creek cirque awaited (the pass I took to Blue Eyed Lake is on the left above the snowfield):
Twin Falls Creek valley from the pass:
Camp Creek (see Grizzly Bear Lakes trip) from Twin Falls valley (Crow Pass is just to the left):
I have so many photos of Polar Bear and Eagle but here they are again from a distinctly different side:
Eagle Glacier:
After climbing to the pass (over 5000'), I got my first look at Blue Eyed Lake:
Forget-me-nots, Dwarf Fireweed, and Blue Eyed Lake:
There are many peaks that surrounded Blue Eyed Lake. Vertigo Peak is one of them:
The Devil's Mistress and Mount Beelzebub are two others:
I actually got to the lake much sooner than I thought I would. With the extra time (and energy) that I had, I climbed up to Inferno Pass and looked out onto the West Branch of the Eklunta glacier. The peak in the background is The Mitre which means that Pitchler's Perch and the Serenity Falls huts are not the far away !!
The notch I choose to use in Inferno Pass (there were many options here):
Blue Eyed Lake from Inferno Pass (the pass from Twin Falls Creek is in the upper right-hand corner):
Peril Peak:
Watermelon bacteria on the West Branch of the Eklunta glacier:
The entire second day it rained so the camera stayed in a zip lock (and a few plans were scrapped). Note to self: trail up Twin Falls Creek - creek just before beaver pond (marked with orange flagging) take a left (uphill, up stream); at cairn look to the right to find the trail. Otherwise, go up from north end of beaver pond and get trail at rock band's top. Use the buttons below to navigate to the area you need to go to next:
