Third time was the charm for me and Benign. With two other attempts, I had the approach pretty dialed (and well marked with cairns). I did not stop to take any photos until the summit. From there I took a few of the summit but mostly I pictured the surrounding peaks. With the approach so well rehearsed, I was able to go from parking lot to parking lot in less than 10 hours (and that was with a flat on the way out !). It was a good climb. At the top:

Route note: From the tundra bench (about 4000') head all the way south until the gully that is south of the peak. It is the gully that is formed by the wall that heads all the way to the creek that forms Freer's Tears. Head up this gully and, as I remember it, always take the most obvious route - oddly, I feel like all obvious choices were the right fork. Take this to the ridge then head right to the summit. |
