Snowbird to Bomber
Tony, Becky, August and I lucked out on a February weekend with warm temps
AND clear skies. We had some wind on the third day but the cloud ceiling
remained high with good visibility. We are not sure if there has ever been
a better three day period in the Talkeetnas.
Day 1: Parking lot to the Snowbird Hut. The road had been groomed
(taking a good hour+ off of the trip!). It still took us most of the day,
though :~}
Day 2: Snowbird Hut to Bomber Hut. We skied over the
the Bomber Hut by lunch and took a run on the Bomber Glacier (and a peek at
our descent for the following day).
Day 3: Bomber to Bomber Pass to Parking lot. High winds had us
thinking about other options for a way back to the car. We stuck with
our original plan and were reqarded with good traveling conditions.
