Camp 22: Lower Pierce Ferry (12/21 - the Winter Solstice)
We only spent a few miles on the river today but they were very memorable - Pierce Ferry Rapid - WOW! It is a rapid that is farming as the river reclaims itself from the lowering levels of Lake Mead. However, at this spot, the river is not between its original banks. Rather, it is flowing over a rock outcropping and making a nasty rapid. We were able to run the right side but all thre eof us took a fairly substantial hit in the final hole. The upside is that the camp at the bottom of this drop is fantastic!
