Camp 15: Mohawk (12/13)

We gave up a long hike in Havasu (we ended u[p only spending an hour there when you could spend a day there pretty easily) in order to attempt to squeak in one more unscheduled layover after Lava-day.  Good thing!  The weather turned nasty after about an hour or so after we left Havasu and we had to battle the winds a bit to make it to Mohawk before dark.  We did make Mohawk in the daylight and did a Lava dance in the wind.  Some stayed up late playing cards.  Most got in their tents pretty early to avoid being out in the storm.

After Havasu, the river slows down considerably.  The canyon at Mohawk Camp has a nice short slot near the mouth of the canyon (less than an hour round trip).

Havasu pull in (one boat missed the pull-in but eddied out right after and had no problems joining us on the hike)
