Camp 14: Ledges (12/12)

Ledges Camp was so different from any other camp we were at - camping on rock ledges in a very tight part of the canyon on a beautiful afternoon and evening.  There were a bunch of Big Horn Sheep across from camp that constantly pushed rocks off into the water through our stay.  There was also a bit of jumping into the river off of the ledges (from both sides) for some afternoon fun.  The moon was also very full for our night here.  It was a great spot.

We ran Upset Rapid on the way here (most folks went right, I ran left).  We also played at Matkatamiba on the way here, which was one of my most favorite side hikes of the trip.

This is a horible shot of a very special sighting: The California Condor. These birds have recently been reintroduced to the Grand Canyon area.

Although they are not considered wild, yet, their increase in numbers has them well on their way to being taken off the endangered species list.
