Camp 13: O.C.'s (12/10 - 11)
Great camp with a large beach. On the way here, we stopped at Tapeats and
hiked up to Thunder River and the Surprise Valley. We did not do a loop
due to other rafts at Tapeats (and we were not sure where we were going to be
able to camp that night). Tapeats Rapid had a sizable hole in the middle
(Matt points to it in one of the photos). Granite Narrows was very cool.
The next day (on our layover) we were able to walk upstream and hitch a ride
across the river from the folks (The Northwesterners) who were camping at Across
Deer Creek (this is the better camp for access to Deer Creek but O.C. was
actually a nicer camp). We then spent the day hiking in the Deer Creek
narrows and then up to Surprise Valley to the point where I had hiked the
previous day.
